原来这样也是不景气的表现

早上看到新闻说,银座本来要进大规模LV店的楼,因为LV撤退了,最终定了GAP。
就这样,逛不成超大LV了,改逛超大GAP吧。
这个也是不景气的后果。

What? From LV to Gap? Wow the economy must really be bad. Or maybe Gap is high-end in Japan. In the US, Gap is even worse than Uniqlo. I actually really like the new Uniqlo in SoHo -- good style with affordable price.

haha
Actually GAP is at same level with Uniqlo here, just Uniqlo aleady has a building at Ginza, which also casued arguements because it is too cheap for the area. But now, H&M, ZARA and Uniqlo all showed up on the main street, then here comes GAP...
Is the economy too bad or just these cheap brands doing good?

Gap is doing very well. The company did a great job after differiate between old navy, gap and banana republic. Usually, if you have different ends brand, the company's image will be confussing to customers.

Anyway, 5th ave is not doing that well too.

Are you sure Gap is doing well? Last time I checked they are doing horrible financially (I had to track their stock and financial performance), maybe it's just in US. Especially the Gap brand itself was having an identity crisis, the cheap people prefer Old Navy and the people want nicer stuff prefer Banana.

Btw, I don't think Zara is cheap, as least for the stuff I like. Their really cheap stuff feel like they will fall apart after one wash.

Gap is not a bad place to get basics, such as socks, boxers, undershirts, pajamas, etc. Once in a while I do find stuff I like at Gap. Old Navy, I would not touch with a 10-foot pole, because everything is made of cheap materials. Same goes for H&M.

Not a fan of either Zara or BR. Both used to carry tasteful clothes in the old days, but now everything there looks plain and dated, at least in the men's department. At this price level, I'd rather go for Club Monaco. J. Crew is another one that has gone downhill fast.

The two brands that I think are an absolute ripoff and will hopefully go out of business after this recession are Abercrombie & Fitch and Armani Exchange. Both use cheap fabric and have bad fit. Both try to use semi-naked models and other marketing gimmicks to sell fugly-looking clothes. Both play obnoxiously loud music in their stores. And both hire rude sales associates who make minimum wage but think they're god.

A&F do use bad fabric for women clothes, now I like there flip flop best.
But i kinda like the music, T sometimes play the music from the homepage, and it is not bad:D
I feel like want to buy nothing recently....
